How to get a KCPL Library Card

Visit any branch of the Kenton County Public Library, or apply online. Library cards are free to Kentucky residents and SWON (formerly GCLC) member library cardholders.

Over 16?
If you are over 16 years of age you must present proof of residency. (ID with name and current address)

Under 16?
If you are under 16 years of age you must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The signing parent or legal guardian will be required to show proof of residency.

No restricted materials may be checked out to this card type (includes R-rated movies, CDs with parental advisories, or CD-ROMs with parental advisories).

Not a Kenton County Resident?
Any cardholder from any library in Kentucky may obtain a library card from KCPL. The Library card must be current (not expired). In addition anyone with a library card from a Greater Cincinnati Library Consortium member library may receive a Kenton County card.

Indiana and Ohio residents whose libraries are not a member of SWON will be required to show us their library card from a SWON member institution in addition to their identification.

For those residing outside of KCPL's servicing area, a KCPL account is available with a one-time $50 fee.

Report lost or stolen cards immediately
The Library assumes that the person presenting a library card is the cardholder, or has the cardholder's permission for use if that card has not been reported lost or stolen. Anything checked out on the card is the responsibility of the cardholder regardless of who checks out the item.
