What kinds of materials are available thru ILL?
Out-of-print materials
Monographs
Items missing or lost from KCPL collection
Copies of journal or newspaper articles
Microfilm or microfiche
Audiocassettes, compact discs and instructional videos and DVDs
What materials are not available thru ILL?
Current bestsellers or items in KCPL collection but currently checked out
Materials published within the last 18 months (these materials should be a new item request)
Computer files and games
Textbooks (books needed for an entire semester)
Rare books and other fragile, old materials
Theses and dissertations
Complete issues of magazines.
Entertainment & popular DVDs & videos
How many ILL requests-
Patrons may have a total of five interlibrary requests or transactions at one time.
How long does it take to receive an ILL item?
It can take one to eight weeks to receive the requested item.
Do you charge a fee for ILL?
KCPL does not charge a fee for this service. If, however, the lending library charges, we will notify the patron before placing the request.
How long can I keep interlibrary loans?
The lending library determines the length of checkout time, usually, anywhere from two to six weeks.
Can items be renewed?
If you need additional time to use the materials, please contact the I.L.L. department five days prior to due date. The loaning library grants permission for renewals, not KCPL.
What are my responsibilities for overdue fees or a lost or damaged item?
Patrons, not KCPL, responsible for fines & materials lost or damaged.
