Looking for a way to liven up your Sunday afternoon?

Grab your entire family and head for the Covington location of the Kenton County Public Library, where seven different library systems will come together for a storytime that goes around the world in 180 minutes.

logoInternational Storytime featuring languages of English, Spanish, Japanese, German, Hindi, Punjabi, Chinese, French, Russian, Arabic, Italian, Portuguese, Turkish and many more

logoPerformances from musician, composer and kid-favorite David Kisor from Children, Inc.

logoCraft stations for children and informational tables on the featured cultures

logoDancing: Belly Dancing by Al-yanna; the Cincinnati Scots Highland Dancers; Salsa instruction/Rayza Ramirez; and crowd favorite the mascot Macarena to end the event

logoA performance by the North Avondale Montessori Drum and Choir Group

logoFree bananas from Chiquita, special library fortune cookies and water donated by the Northern Kentucky Water District

logoVisits from area mascots including Booker the Reading Retriever (Kenton), Tales (Boone), Rufus (Cincinnati)

 

logoBoone, Campbell, Grant and Kenton counties (Northern Kentucky) and Butler, Clermont, and Hamilton counties (Ohio) and several community literacy organizations including Children, Inc., Kenton County Adult Education and Santa Maria Community Services will present El Día de los Niños/El Día de los Libros or “Children’s Book Day."

This celebration, held annually on April 30th, emphasizes the importance of advocating literacy for every child regardless of linguistic and cultural background. This online version of ALSC's El Día brochure provides tips for parents on reading to children and using the local library as a valuable resource." The online brochure is also available in Spanish.
