Join the Kenton County Public Library and Ohio Kentucky Indiana Cachers (O.K.I.C.) for an introduction to the growing outdoor hobby of Geocaching. Geocaching is like a treasure hunt combined with the outdoors and hiking! Caches are hidden in various locations and cachers use GPS (Global Positioning Systems) equipment and physical coordinates (latitude and longitude) posted on the World Wide Web to pinpoint caches. Dress for an outdoor walk around the Library grounds, as we will split up with seasoned cachers and find the caches. "Cache In, Trash Out" is the cachers' motto - we'll do a litter cleanup as we go. Wear comfortable shoes.

During the months of November and December you are invited to help decorate the Mitten Tree at Durr Library with a donation of handmade (or new) scarves, hats, mittens or gloves.
Donations can be made at the Durr Library adult reference desk at any time.
Items will be donated to Welcome House and Scarf It Up! of Northern Kentucky. Welcome House collaborates with the community to provide a continuum of quality services for individuals and families in order to eradicate homelessness, foster stability and promote a just society. Scarf It Up! gathers and distributes handmade scarves to inner city youth, homeless, the elderly and others in need.

See the Civil War through the eyes of one couple, Gilbert and Esther Claflin, liberally illustrated with songs of the Civil War. Judy Cook reads excerpts from her great-great-grandparents' Civil War correspondence, plays concertina tunes, and provides fascinating historical details to weave the songs together. She dresses in 1860's style costume and accompanies her program with over a hundred projected images including period photos, works of art, and chorus lyrics.

The holidays can be the most difficult times of the year to maintain a nutritious diet. Join staff from Cincinnati's Whole Foods Market and learn tips and tricks for eating and staying healthy over the holiday months. Be a Hero: Take the Time to Learn About Foster Care & Adoption
There are over 900 children in foster care in Northern Kentucky, many of whom are from Kenton County. There are also numerous children currently waiting for an adoptive home. Staff from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services will present a foster care and adoption informational forum discussing the preparation classes, qualifications and requirements leading to approval as a foster or adoptive parent. The State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) and Senior Medicare Patrol are offering free Medicare prescription drug plan comparison assistance for Medicare beneficiaries.
