Ninona Miller (November 6, 1916, Newport, KY – March 20, 2003, Fort Thomas KY)
Miller graduated from Newport High School in 1933, a couple years later she discovered that she had a knack for poetry and began exploring her new hobby. Her work was quickly recognized in the 1936 A Brief Anthology of Kentucky Poetry. During this time she attended Morehead State University in Kentucky, the University of Cincinnati for her BA. She married in 1938 to minister George Willard Kew and began her family. In the 1960s and 70s Miller taught English and the Bible as literature at Campbell County High School as she received her MA in education at Northern Kentucky University. Miller was the treasurer for both the Newport and Fort Thomas boards of education and was a member of the Campbell County Historical Society among numerous other organizations. In 1972 she married Floyd W. Scott who died ten years later in 1982. Miller died of heart failure in 2003 and is buried in the Alexandria Cemetery in Alexandria, KY.
