A custom RSS feed can be created through any of our Newly Acquired/Ordered or New Items pages
on which there is a "Search" input box. For instance, on the Newly Acquired/Ordered DVD page you can perform
a search on "Harry Potter." Even though there may be no results on the web page, an RSS feed has been created for this search.
Subscribe to the RSS feed, and the next time a "Harry Potter"
DVD is ordered, a notice will be sent to your newsreader.
The search box looks for words in the title, author, subject and the collection fields. So if you have a favorite fiction author and
would like to create a "purchase alert" for this author,
just go to the Newly Acquired/Ordered Fiction page. Perform a search for the author, and subscribe to
the RSS feed.
Email Alerts
Email Alerts are sent nightly. An email alert for "Newly Acquired/Ordered"
materials consist of a list of items that were placed on order during the day. A "New Book" email alert consists of items that were
placed on the "New Collection" shelves during the day.
Email alerts can be customized through the search functionality on the page.
For example, if you perform a search on Janet Evanovich when viewing the on order fiction list,
you can then click on the email alert link to create subscribe to an email alert for this search. When the library orders
fiction materials by Janet Evanovich an alert will be sent to you. Note: When you perform the search there may be no results on the
web page, but an email alert will be created.
After you subscribe to an email alert a confirmation email will be sent to you.
You must click on the link in the confirmation email in order to activate your subscription.
Email alerts are only sent on days
that the criteria of your search is met. For example, if you are subscribed to the Newly Acquired/Ordered DVD Email Alert, no email
will be sent unless a DVD was ordered during the day.
