What is RSS? This icon indicates that these lists are available as RSS feeds. RSS is an acronym and depending on who you talk to may stand for Really Simple Syndication, Rich Site Summary, RDF Site Summary, or a variation on one of these. An RSS feed is basically a list that can be subscribed to and read in a news reader. The news reader will periodically check for updates to the list.
News readers also known as aggregators come in two types: software that you download, and online aggregators. Bloglines is one of the most popular online aggregators. Aggregators that run on your computer may be standalone or integrated into another program such as Microsoft Outlook.
Most news readers allow you to subscribe to a feed by copying the link of the news feed from your browser into the news reader. You can check the documentation of your news reader
for further explanation.
