I'm forwarding a post on the director's listserv from Amy Morgeson,
Director of the Marion County Public Library. She's looking for
libraries interested in a pen pal project this summer, any age group
welcome. Please see her message below and email her
amyglibrary at hotmail.com if you're interested and which age group you'd
like to include!

Subject: [kyac] Snail Mail Project

I have bizarre trains of thought, as some may know, so this morning as I
was mailing the bills I remembered that there had been mention of bug
inspired stamps from the USPS. That in turn made me think of various
forms of insects and their kin, I then thought of snails and "snail
mail". That got me to thinking about the fact that many kids today
(Lord I sound like my grandpa=0) have never written an actual letter to
someone. Thus the idea of a "Snail Mail" library pen pal project was
born. So....would anyone like to be a sister or brother library and
have their kids be pen pals to our kids? Don't worry, I've passed this
with our Children's person, I know I'm a director but old habits are
hard to break;0>

If you'd like to turn this into a more "adult" affair. We could also
turn it into a "Love Bug Snail Mail Project" and match up our adult
patron's to people with similar interest in neighboring
communities..........

Anyone interested send me your name, library name and contact e-mail.
I'll compile these and send the list to everyone that wants to join.

'Tell me one last thing,' said Harry. 'Is this real? Or has this all
been happening inside my head?'.................'Of course it's
happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean
that it is not real?'
