Eleanor Duncan Wood (b. January 10, 1869, Philadelphia, PA – d. June 13, 1936, Maysville, KY)
Wood was a successful poet, having numerous pieces of hers selected for publication in various journals and newspapers. One of her poems, “In Memoriam,” was chosen to be engraved on the side of a World War I memorial building built on University of Kentucky’s campus. Wood published a collection of her poetry titled Largesse, in 1926. She died ten years later at age 67 and is buried in Washington, KY.
