Comment: Latonia Racetrack is extreme lower right corner. Fort Wright and Kyle's Lane runs top to bottom on left side of lower left quadrant. 3L runs from 4 oclock to 6 oclock with reference to the Mother of God Cemetery.

Comment: Peaselburg lower left. Park Hills in left center, church at 1101 Amsterdam is easy to see. Dead Man's Curve on Dixie Highway short radius switchback is center of picture. I-75 would run left to right slightly below center of the picture.

Comment: Like Fr. Janson and Msr Elsaesser, I remember Fr. Kriege from my earliest days. I would have been 3 or 4 when this picture was taken. I have a faint memory of his voice. He looks a little younger here than what I remember of him.

Comment: Msg Elsaesser was pastor of St. Henry when I was born. I remember how he sounded, and my dad told me later how Fr. Elsaesser did not like the changes of Vatican II at all. If this picture was around 1971 then I would have been 3 or 4 at the time.

Dixie HWY runs right to left across the center of the picture. Latonia is the lower right. Mother of God Cemetery can be seen in the lower right.

Comment: Dixie Highway runs left to right across the middle. St. Agnes and Lookout Drive In Movie Theater is right center. Wolfzorn Farm today's Mt. Vernon and Monticello are lower left. St. Johns Cemetery is top center visible by the circular drive.

Description: Wheel Cafe
Comment: Newspaper ads from 1920's show the Wheel Cafe to have been located at 537 Walnut Street in Cincinnati, OH. The establishment was opened in 1903 by Fisher Bachrach an immigrant of Polish ancestry. The business was passed down to his son, Walton who was mayor of Cincinnati in the 1960's.

Comment: Mr. Centner was an excellent XU professor in the graduate program when I earned an MBA in 1971-1974. His intermission stories were extremely interesting.

Comment: I lived at 1107 Hermès my best friend Charlotte & I would sled ride down steep 12th as we called it back in the 70s What great times & great friends!

Comment: The Dental Arts Lab. used to be a restaurant run by Mary Lou Aylor, the youngest daughter of R.B. Taylor. I kidded her about dropping the 'T' from her name. The PNC Bank used to be the Union Deposit Bank where I had accounts.

Description: Unidentified Middendorf women and girls
Comment: Mary Middendorf 1878-1963 Mary Ruhe Middendorf 1840-1913 and Anna Middendorf 1881-1967 The two girls married John and Fred Schroder. Mary Ruhe was their mother, wife of Johann Middendorf 1829-1889. Johann was the brother of my great great grandfather, Wiliam Middendorf 1837-1880 My grandmother had this picture and she identified the people in the photo.

Comment: This was Donald Slaven. I believe the date was 1971 rather than 1970. He was shot in the back by Newport, Ky police officer Sgt. Ricky Huck during an attempted burglary.
