Description: | A Wilder police cruiser is parked on High Street in front of a truck. In mid-September 1983 this truck, loaded with 32 drums containing PCB contaminated oil, arrived at a Sea Bright Environmental, Inc. office building in Wilder KY. (PCB is polychlorinated biphenyl, a cancer causing agent that is found in oil in electrical transformers.) A Wilder policeman told the truck driver he couldn't unload the drums and the driver left. Sea Bright Environmental and Wilder officials had been battling ever since Sea Bright announced plans for building a toxic waste treatment plant in Wilder. At this point, officials of Sea Bright, a hazardous and toxic waste recycling company, weren't talking. |
