In less than a week, Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky will, once again, be lit up for BLINK, opens a new window – a four-day celebration (this year's event takes place October 8-11) of public art and light that features 80+ large-scale projection mappings against iconic architecture, interactive light-based installations in public spaces and expansive murals.
Since it's inaugural year in 2017, BLINK has continued to grow and evolve. In 2019, it crossed the river and added Covington to the route, and its most recent iteration in 2024 expanded into Newport (note that due to road closures Newport is not included this year). Now surpassing more than two million attendees, BLINK shines a light, literally and metaphorically, on our region through its commitment to supporting artists and community.
This year, the Kenton County Public Library is thrilled to be a part of the BLINK experience, opens a new window. "Connected" by Koros Design Studio will be on display in the parking lot outside of the Covington Branch, opens a new window. This installation illustrates the communication between two neuron cells as they send and receive signals to each other, offering a look into how science impacts us in our daily lives.
We hope that you'll add the library to your BLINK itinerary to explore the installation, participate in a community art project, pick up a glowy giveaway and connect with staff from your local library. Please note that the Covington Branch will close at 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 8. Visitors will not be allowed inside the library after that time. The installation is located fully outdoors.
As you navigate increased traffic in Covington because of BLINK visitors and continued construction related to the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project, remember to add some extra time for travel to your agenda.
You can find the latest road closure/detour updates on the City of Covington's website, opens a new window, as well as the project website for the Brent Spence Bridge, opens a new window. Be sure to reference your GPS to identify your quickest route options. Additionally, print out or download the full BLINK map, opens a new window to your phone for easy reference during the event.
We hope you enjoy BLINK 2026 and that you stop by our installation at the Covington Branch! 💡
