Nominations Open for the 2025 Mary Ann Mongan Literacy Award

The Kenton County Public Library Foundation is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Mary Ann Mongan Literacy Award. This annual honor recognizes those who go above and beyond to promote literacy and learning in our community.

Honoring a Local Legacy

Mary Ann Mongan was the first executive director of the Kenton County Public Library. She began her leadership in 1958 and served for 41 years, helping shape the library into a community cornerstone. The award, established in 2009, celebrates her lifelong commitment to literacy, education and public service.

Who Can Be Nominated

The award is open to individuals, educators, organizations and volunteers who have made a significant difference in promoting literacy in Kenton County. Current Kenton County Public Library employees are not eligible. 

How to Nominate

Submitting a nomination is simple. Fill out the online form and share why your nominee deserves this recognition. Nominations may be submitted by peers, colleagues, parents or community members.

Why It Matters

Literacy opens doors, fuels imagination and creates opportunities. By nominating someone for the Mary Ann Mongan Literacy Award, you are shining a light on those who inspire learning and strengthen our community. The recipient of the award will receive a $250 check from the Kenton County Public Library Foundation, along with an award and recognition on a plaque located at the library.
