Whether you're a student, parent or teacher navigating this return, the Kenton County Public Library offers a variety of free resources to support your educational endeavors all year long.
Resources for Students and Parents
As your family works through homework challenges or difficult school projects this year, know that all of these online resources (and more) are accessible through KCPL's Digital Library, opens a new window.
- ABCmouse – An early-learning app for math, phonics, reading and more. Designed by learning experts, children can practice anytime and anywhere.
- Creativebug – Learn how to paint, knit, crochet, sew, screen print and more with thousands of award-winning video classes taught by design experts and artists.
- CultureGrams – Using concise and reliable reports on more than 200 countries, this resource is helpful for learning and writing about different cultures (or for planning a trip).
- Homework Help with Brainfuse – Online tutoring and homework help to empower learners of all ages.
- LearningExpress – A comprehensive resource for improving skills and preparing for important tests like the ACT, SAT, AP Tests and more.
- Mango Languages – An online language-learning tool for 70 languages including Spanish, French, Japanese, Portuguese, German, Italian, Russian and more.
- Opposing Viewpoints – Find overviews, news and opinions on hundreds of today’s important social issues. If you’re writing a position paper or preparing to give a persuasive speech, this is a great place to start to learn both sides of a story.
Resources for Teachers and Educators
KCPL offers the following services for educators to support and extend classroom activities.
- Database Training – A librarian can visit classrooms or faculty meetings to discuss any of our databases and ebook platforms. Virtual database training is also available.
- Educator Cards – Available to all educators and support staff who teach or live in Kenton County, including homeschool and preschool educators. The card gives access to the library’s electronic services, as well as the ability to check out up to 100 items. Lost and damaged fees will be waived for up to five books per school year.
- Library Tours and Field Trips – We encourage students and educators to visit any of our branches. During your visit, we can provide library cards for students. Please schedule at least two weeks in advance.
- School Visits – Librarians are available to visit schools and classrooms for a presentation on library resources, curriculum support, storytimes, book discussions, STREAM-related activities or question and answer sessions. Virtual school visits are also available. Please schedule at least two weeks in advance.
