If you're scouring the internet for popular cookbook recommendations, odds are high that you've seen Julia Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" on a few lists (or probably most of them). Released in 1961, this book had a profound impact on American food and cooking culture.
By providing an approachable take on French cuisine, this book pushed many home cooks of all skill levels back into their kitchens to try something new. The success of this book eventually led to Child's popular television show ("The French Chef") and paved the way for many chefs and cooking shows to follow.
Mastering the Art of French Cooking
Today (August 15) on Julia Child's birthday, we encourage you to try something new in the kitchen. Our Nonfiction Collection Department Librarian, Kelly, recently put together a cookbook recommendation list featuring easy and unique recipes for the air fryer, slow cooker, skillet and more.

If you already love cooking or want to learn more about the craft, we also invite you to check out our Cookbook Book Club at the Latonia Branch! During each meeting, attendees discuss new recipes and ways to improve their cooking skills. Hosted by chef JoEllen Hothem, this is a great opportunity to make new foodie friends.
