There may not be a better way to spend a summer evening than sitting in a ballpark with a hot dog in one hand, a cold drink in the other and nine innings stretching out in front of you.
Major League Baseball may grab the headlines, but minor league baseball offers something special. The games are affordable, the atmosphere is relaxed and the entertainment extends far beyond what happens between the foul lines. Whether it's mascot races, creative promotions or the chance to meet players after the game, every visit feels personal.
Here in Northern Kentucky, we're especially lucky.
This July, the Florence Y'alls will host the 2026 Frontier League Y'all Star Game, bringing many of the league's top players to Thomas More Stadium for one of the biggest baseball celebrations our region has seen in years. The festivities include a Home Run Derby, Mascot Mania and two nights of family-friendly entertainment before the league's brightest stars take the field on July 15. It's the first time the Florence Y'alls have hosted the event under their current name and a chance to showcase Northern Kentucky to baseball fans from across the league.

Of course, the best baseball stories don't always happen on the field.
Some are found in biographies of legendary players. Others come from unforgettable World Series moments, statistical deep dives, tales of colorful minor league promotions or novels that perfectly capture the romance of America's pastime.
Whether you're fascinated by baseball history, curious about the business of the game or simply enjoy a great sports story, Kenton County Public Library has something waiting for you.
Maybe you're planning to attend the Y'all Star Game. Maybe you're taking in a Florence Y'alls game later this summer. Or maybe you'll simply enjoy reading about the game from your favorite chair at home.
However you celebrate baseball season, the library is ready to help make it even more memorable.
So grab a great book, cheer for the home team and enjoy one of summer's greatest traditions. Play ball!
